Bio - Wayne Toy
This is a difficult bio to write, because Wayne was so instrumental in the perpetuation of Shaolin Kenpo in Grays Harbor, yet as an individual he is one of the most humble people you will ever meet. I've known about Wayne Toy and some of my earliest memories as a child are being brought probably kicking and screaming to his home with my dad for a workout.
Wayne was the third individual promoted to Black Belt by Rick and Maria Warwick in Aberdeen, Washington and his efforts of varied type throughout the years have helped keep Shaolin Kenpo growing. Wayne was the water that kept the plant from dying.
In the late-1960's through the mid-1970's, Wayne was an outstanding ambassador for Shaolin Kenpo. He taught an introduction to Kenpo class at Emerson Grade School that changed the life and direction of Mike Skinner Sr.
In the mid-1980's, Wayne was one of three people (Ray Warwick, Mike Skinner Sr.) who assisted Clay Micheau with the kata portion of his hybrid system. Clay was the National Forms Champion in 1984 and utilized the knowledge and background of Wayne, Ray, and Mike to ensure that he was performing and teaching the Shaolin Kenpo kata as intended.
In the mid-to-late 1980's, Wayne was also instrumental (again alongside Ray Warwick and Mike Skinner Sr.) in assisting to place the sizeable Shaolin Kenpo requirements into a readable format on paper.
Wayne no longer participates in Martial Arts related endeavors, and gently rebuffs those who ask.
Wayne is now "hopefully" enjoying a well-earned retirement after many years as a Registered Nurse who was both well-liked and well-respected among his peers. Wayne was called upon numerous times during his nursing career as a Charge Nurse in the Emergency Room to protect life and limb for his co-workers. Many doctors and nurses are quite thankful for his timely interventions and knowledge of Shaolin Kenpo.
Wayne is also a born-again Christian who is strong in his faith.
