Gallery 2

Gallery 2 is from the time period most are familiar with Aberdeen Kenpo Karate for-1975-1983. Multiple Black Belts from this era have been contacted, shared stories and photographs, and ensured the history of the style was told with integrity and honesty.

The goal is to share pieces of each person's Shaolin Kenpo journey here. If you were at the school at 216 H Street built by Mike Skinner Sr. and Barry Alexander during the years above, we'd love to hear from you! Please send biography suggestions and photos to sifujj@hotmail.com.

Most of the photos are in black and white. We have color copies of most of what is exhibited here. It is far more difficult to colorize a black and white photo than it is to use a newsprint filter on a color photo. If you see these photos elsewhere on the Internet, please do let us know.

Mike Skinner Sr. becomes Maria Warwick's first   Black Belt as a school owner. May 6th, 1977.   This is unique in that Maria Warwick was one of   the only female Martial Arts instructors on the  west coast at the time.

This old canvas bag took a horrendous beating from the Martial Artists at Aberdeen Kenpo Karate. Here we see Clay Micheau attempting to fold the bag in half around his leg.

Maria Warwick retired from teaching Kenpo Karate in 1983 due to recurrent medical issues. While she was teaching on a daily basis at Aberdeen Kenpo Karate, we were exceptionally lucky to have had access to her knowledge, expertise and flawless technique, as evidenced by this crossover stance.
